In 1981, Dr. James Richardson became pastor, and the church experienced remarkable growth, leading to a name change to First Baptist Church of Madison. The church underwent extensive renovations and expansions, including a new sanctuary, education facilities, and a Christian Activities Center. The membership and Sunday School enrollment grew significantly, making it necessary to have two Sunday morning worship services. Dr. John A. Temple took the reins in 1993, continuing the church's growth trajectory. As of the 115th Anniversary Celebration, the church had approximately 2,700 members and a Sunday School enrollment of 2,400. From 2008 to 2021 Dr. Ronnie Falvey continued the expansion of the church to accommodate the growing Madison community, including the worship center, choir, and educational spaces. His passion for missions also led to an expansion of mission efforts, both locally and globally.
